LandCruiser Gas Struts FAQ
Why are my LandCruiser's gas struts failing?
Over time, the seals inside factory gas struts naturally wear out, leading to a loss of pressure. This is accelerated by the harsh Australian climate and dust from outback tracks. When this happens, your bonnet or tailgate will feel much heavier and may no longer stay open on its own, posing a safety risk.
When should I choose "Heavy Duty" struts over standard ones?
If you have added weight to your vehicle—such as sound deadening in the doors, a tailgate ladder, or a rear-mounted tire carrier—standard struts may struggle. Our Heavy Duty struts feature higher Newton (pressure) ratings designed to lift the extra load and ensure your tailgate stays up even when parked on a slope.
Are these struts difficult to install?
Not at all. Our struts are designed as direct OEM replacements. This means they utilize the original mounting points on your 60, 70, 80, 100, or 200 Series without the need for drilling, extra brackets, or modifications. It’s a simple "plug and play" upgrade that restores effortless operation.
Do you stock struts for the rear window glass as well?
Yes. We stock a comprehensive range that covers bonnets, tailgates, and rear window glass for the LandCruiser 60 Series through to the modern 300 Series. Maintaining high-quality struts on your rear glass is essential for easy access to your cargo area without the window slamming shut.
Will these struts survive the dust of the outback?
Absolutely. Our aftermarket gas struts are Australian-tested and feature hardened shafts and high-quality seals specifically engineered to withstand the grit, dust, and vibrations of the outback. They are built for long-term durability on both the daily school run and remote touring adventures.
